I come to you with myriad life experiences that have allowed me to approach therapy with a compassionate, non-judgmental lens to meet you where you are in this very moment. I bring along a collaborative, interactive style and a dark sense of humor. I believe that all of the paths I have walked, the journey through my own personal growth, especially the struggles I've personally endured have led me to do this work. This is my life's calling and I am honored to walk beside you on your own journey of self-discovery.
Ajna Rae (she/they)
I received my Master's degree summa cum laude at Lewis & Clark College with a specialty focus of Addictions. I have worked in community health and mental health for over ten years including clinical work and working with youth in acute mental health distress. My time volunteering for the Suicide Crisis Line was some of the most deeply moving and fulfilling hours I have ever spent.
I'm a proud fur mama to two cute dogs and two snarky black cats. (The cats politely declined to have their photos posted.)
I am also a parent to two wonderful humans, so I bring insight, empathy, and support should you be a struggling parent. We can work together to help you understand and overcome any barriers to connection you may be experiencing. I am also here to simply listen without judgment should you just need a sensitive ear.
I have traveled and landed in many different cities before finding Portland and the Pacific Northwest as my forever home 21 years ago. I am happiest when I am outdoors (and I like to play guitar, even though I'm not that good at it). I believe in the power of nature to help us heal and grow. In my work with clients I will often use nature analogies and metaphors because I consider the wisdom of the natural world to be able to impart universal insight to we humans.
I know that the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, and the process of choosing a therapist can feel like a big challenge. I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss any questions about therapy in general, or my particular approach to it.
