I have a passion for working with those who suffer from the lasting effects of trauma. I believe we all have the ability to heal and grow from our sources of wounding. .We can attend to issues of anxiety, depression, addiction, anger, codependency, grief, and more that can arise from unresolved past experiences and current struggles.
. My collaborative therapeutic approach is rooted in mindful awareness and acceptance, informed by relational and attachment models, and guided by an appreciation of each person’s unique existential search for meaning. I aim to foster a space where you can engage in your present experience, show up as you are, and find awareness, choice, and support in the life that awaits you. I arrive in session with curiosity, humor, honesty, and compassion.
We will work together for you to become more aware of yourself and discover possibilities for choosing more fulfilling and satisfying relationships, with yourself and with others.
Whether you experienced prolonged abuse and neglect in childhood, survived an abusive relationship, or have experienced an acute traumatic event, I am here with you.
Trauma affects the development of the brain and is stored in the body. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger and affect your life and especially your relationships. You may be confused about some of the ways in which you move through the world.
Together we can explore how your trauma uniquely affects you and find ways for you to heal. You deserve to live a fulfilling and whole life. Let's find the path through your process of grief and healing.
The ways in which we make connections with others are learned in childhood from our relationships with our primary caregivers. At best caregivers just failed because of their circumstances. At worst, caregivers overtly abused or neglected without care. Either way, adult relationships can suffer as a result of how we learned about what feels safe.
The good news is that your system has the ability to rewire and learn new and more healthy ways to be in your relationships. Even just through the power of the therapeutic relationship you can find healing and personal growth to allow for deeper and more meaningful connections with others.
Going deeper, you can learn how to address your own needs, ask for what you want, create healthy boundaries, and build the confidence to be able to be the you that is You.
We are all hardwired for fulfillment and enjoyment, so depression is not a stand-alone set of symptoms. Depression often stems from a bigger picture of unmet needs, life imbalances, and unfulfilled values. To recover the motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life requires a deep-dive into the underlying causes of discomfort.
Depression is a heavy burden to bear, a struggle you shouldn't have to face alone. Through your unique process, you can discover ways to regulate your emotions, learn skills to help you cope, and strengthen meaningful relationships. It may not seem like it right now, but there is hope within the journey of self-exploration and discovery.
Anxiety can manifest in so many different ways that it can be difficult to separate yourself from your anxiety. Sometimes clinging to anxiousness feels like the only thing that keeps everything from falling apart. Other times it can feel like the symptoms of anxiety have taken away any sense of control. Often the experience is both of these and more.
Anxiety can be especially insidious because we live in a society that values perfection/production over process. Since this is the case, our inner-critics can be especially loud and persistent. Much of working with anxiety involves the delicate process of undoing the damage of messages received from life, and creating a new narrative that is in alignment with your true values.
In a supportive therapeutic setting, I help clients safely process emotions and experiences to be able to learn practical, strengths-based coping strategies and techniques for symptom management and reduction. I use evidence-based therapies to assist in identifying self-limiting core beliefs and behavioral patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck, frustrated, and unsettled.
